The Principle Chief
On January 1st, 2023, Man Gray Eagle was inaugurated as the Principle Chief following a call from Founding Father Man Many Trees, who urged him to assemble the council and announce the changes in the OHCD leadership. He officially assumed his role on May 13th, 2023, during the Spring Planting of the Corn Ceremonial Gathering.
Beloved Woman of the Nation
In September 2023, we proudly appointed our Beloved Woman, a role that is held for a lifetime. Shown here is Mother Moon Spirit, the esteemed Beloved Woman of our Nation. Her wisdom and guidance will be invaluable as we strive to preserve and promote our rich cultural heritage.
Head of the Women's Council
The current Head of the Women's Council is Wild Pretty Bird. She has been reinstated in this esteemed role by Principal Chief Gray Eagle. This position is a lifelong commitment, and the HWC plays a crucial role in coordinating all related activities and initiatives within our community.
Head Elder
In a significant advisory role, Black Wolf Standing, the partner of Pretty Bird, was privileged to be named the Head Elder during the Spring Gathering of 2024. This appointment acknowledges his demonstrated capability to undertake this vital position. He is dedicated to advancing our community's initiatives and will provide steadfast support to the Women's Council in their essential endeavors.
Head Warrior
The Head Warrior serves as the guardian of the Nation, tasked with ensuring the safety and security of both the Chief and the Beloved Woman. This role includes the vital responsibility of training and overseeing fellow warriors in their duties.
Medicine Woman
The Medicine Woman Little Deer serves our Nation by addressing issues of physical and mental health, providing care and support. She possesses a deep knowledge of medicinal plants and animals, ensuring the well-being of our community.
Messenger
The appointment of the current messenger occurred shortly after January 1st, 2023. White Star fulfills two essential roles within our community. Traditionally, the messenger is responsible for conveying important information throughout the Nation. Furthermore, the Messenger has also embraced the additional duties of a "secretary" for the Nation. Generally, all communications intended for the Chief are initially managed by the Messenger. It is important to note that as Secretary, the Messenger does not possess voting rights.
Fire Tender
The Fire Tender is entrusted with the responsibility of gathering wood and igniting the sacred Fire. Our current Fire Tender is Black Wolf.
Meet The Clans
Long Hair Clan
The Long Hair Clan serves as the current governing body, consisting of the Principal Chief, Beloved Woman, Messenger, Head Warrior, and two clan chiefs, all hailing from this clan. The present leadership includes: *Clan Chief White Star Adams.
* The Head Warrior in training Gray Wolf, a 15-year-old stepson of the Bear Clan Chief.
* The Head Elder Mountain Man, who has taken on the role of Acting Chief during challenging times.
* The Medicine Woman Strong Medicine, renowned for her exceptional skills in locating and identifying medicinal plants.
* The Beloved Woman Yellow Moon.
* The Clan Mother Two Braids.Historically, the Long Hair Clan was composed of female warriors and was also referred to as the Twister Clan, Hair Hanging Down Clan, or Wind Clan. They were celebrated for their intricate hairstyles and distinctive walking style, characterized by a proud and vain twisting of their shoulders. The Peace Chief was frequently chosen from this clan.
Wolf Clan (VA)
THE BEAR CLAN, TRADITIONALLY, KNOWN FOR GATHERING THE WILD POTATOS FROM THE SWAMPS ALONG THE STREAMS. THEY WERE KNOWN AS "THE FARMERS" BECAUSE THEY DID MOST OF THE FARMING. THEY WERE ALSO KNOWN AS WILD POTATO, RACOON AND BLIND SAVANNAH CLAN.
Wolf Clan (FL)
The Wolf Clan has historically held the role of the warriors within our community. Currently, we have two distinct chapters of the Wolf Clan. The chapter based in Florida is led by Chief Grey Eagle, who should not be confused with Principal Chief Gray Eagle.Traditionally, the Wolf Clan was the largest and most prominent clan. Many of our esteemed war chiefs originated from this clan. Furthermore, they held a unique privilege as the only clan permitted to hunt wolves or keep them as companions.
Bear Clan
The Bear Clan is an offshoot of the Wild Potato Clan, currently led by
*Mountain Bull. THIS CLAN IS TRADITIONALLY RECOGNIZED FOR HARVESTING WILD POTATOES FOUND IN THE SWAMPS NEAR STREAMS. THEY EARNED THE TITLE "THE FARMERS" DUE TO THEIR EXTENSIVE AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES. ADDITIONALLY, THEY WERE COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS WILD POTATO, RACOON, AND BLIND SAVANNAH CLAN.
*Medicine Woman
Red Paint Clan
THE RED PAINT CLAN HAS A RICH TRADITION OF CRAFTING MEDICINES AND CREATING RED PAINT. MEMBERS OF THIS CLAN HAVE HISTORICALLY BEEN SELECTED AS MEDICINE MEN.

The Deer Clan is located in the haart of the Over-Hill traditional territory.
The Bird Clan
THE BIRD CLAN HAS LONG BEEN RECOGNIZED AS THE GUARDIANS OF AVIAN LIFE. THEY MASTERED THE ART OF UTILIZING VARIOUS TOOLS, INCLUDING BLOWGUNS AND SNARES, TO HUNT AND CAPTURE. IT IS ALSO POSSIBLE THAT THEY SERVED AS MESSENGERS, TRANSPORTING IMPORTANT MESSAGES BETWEEN CLANS.
Clan Chief:
